Winter is for "off season training"

Pitching and Hitting lessons are crucial from now until the High School softball season starts.  So get your lessons booked!  Remember in Iowa the pitching mound will go back to 43 feet.  Be prepared - train for this change as a hitter and as pitchers.

2008 Fall Farm League -120 Players Strong

What a great month of softball.  The fall league is set up to allow players to get a lot of game time to improve their skills.
All players are guaranteed 2 games a day but the league is set up so there are only 10-12 players per team.  Some of those players are part-time and you never know who is going to be sick or have other obligations.  So at each game there is always a need for "pick up" players.  The players who really want to play will get into 4-5 games a day.  A few players were playing 14U and 18U and got 6 games a day.  This league is designed like what you would see in the inner city basketball playgrounds.  Great players come out of this type of environment because they work on their skills and play as many games as they can.  I grew up playing basically sandlot ball where we played games all day long.  The more I played the better I got.  That is what helped me be so successful in College.  That is the concept of the Fall League.  You play as many games as possible against good competition.
We picked up 21 players to play this fall on the I-Club Showcase teams.  That shows the system is working.
Players sign up as individuals and are drafted or placed on teams based on their Primary Position and Secondary Position.  Each team will have 10 or so
players and will be coached by an I-Club player or coach.  We will instruct while the games are being played.  We will have 2 weekends of clinics:
1 - Sue Enquist on Sept. 19-20
2 - I-Club Staff will instruct Sept. 26-27
You will get better by playing in this league.  I have had many parents email me or comment to me that it is the best $250 they ever spent.

120 Players registered and played in the 2008
Fall Farm League.  That is up from last year where we had 85 players.  I-Club is growing.  We are helping more and more players develop and reach their dream of playing softball in College.

Thank you to everyone who participated, we look forward to seeing you next year.

TENTATIVE FALL FARM LEAGUE SCHEDULE

Saturday Sept. 6, 2008

10:00am – 11:30am  Showcase – Player Drafting
My I-Club coaches and players will watch all the players in each division and pick the ones that they would like to have on their team.  We will hit them balls in the infield and outfield, they will hit off the machine or live, they will run home to 1st and home to home.  We will then have a coaches meeting and place all the players.  It makes it fun for the coaches when they can draft some of their players.  This is what they did at the University of Oklahoma camp and it worked out great.
